Friday 17th November

Hello Everybody
We have had a great day thinking about Children in Need. We started the day with assemblies that explained to the children what the charity does, and why it is so important. Then we had two dances, one for Years 3-6, the other for Reception, Y1 & 2. Then over the course of the day different classes mixed up for a short dance. This all culminated in a lovely giant dance in the hall involving every child. All in all a great day and a brilliant way to raise money for a really worthwhile charity, and as a bonus a super way for our younger and older children to spend time together to further develop the strong sense of community within the school.
Have a great weekend,
Mr Dewey

Friday 10th November

Hello Everyone, We are looking forward to seeing lots of you at Parent’s evenings next week. The meetings will be an opportunity to find out how the children have settled into their new year group and class. We are also holding two parent sessions next Tuesday, the focus will be online safety for children. This is a very important issue at the moment, so please come along for some up to date information. They will take place from 3.30-4pm and again from 5.15-5.45.
Have a good weekend
Mr Dewey

Friday 3rd November

Hello Everyone,
Festivals of Light week has been a great success with the children getting involved in lots of difference activities. They have been on some great trips and had wonderful visitors coming in to see them to help them celebrate different customs and traditions.  We look forward to seeing you after school to showcase and celebrate your children’s learning and for them to show you what they have been learning.
Have a safe weekend, Mr Dewey

Friday 20th October

Hello Everyone,
Yet again the term seems to have flown by. We have packed a huge amount of learning in since September, and are already busy planning next term’s learning. We have collated data from last year, and we are very pleased with the results. The second figure in each set of data is for ‘greater depth’.

GLD (Good level of Development) end of Reception 74% (Bristol 68%)
Y1 Phonics 90% (Bristol 81%, National 81%)
Y2 Reading 80% 35% (Bristol 74% 23%, National 76% 25%)
Y2 Writing 73% 20% (Bristol 65% 14%, National 68% 16%)
Y2 Maths 83% 30% (Bristol 73% 19%, National 75% 21%)
Y6 Reading 80% 28% (Bristol 70% 26%, National 71% 25%)
Y6 Writing 86% 31% (Bristol 75% 18%, National 76% 18%)
Y6 Maths 87% 32% (Bristol 72% 23%, National 75% 23%)
Y6 Grammar 85% 47% (Bristol N/A, National 77% 31%)
Y6 Combined 76% 20% (Bristol 60% 10%, National 61% 9%)
So a great set of results all round. Well done to all the children that have worked so hard, and the great teaching teams that have supported them to be the best they can.
Have a lovely half term,
Mr Dewey.

Friday 13th October

Hello Everyone,
Our Year 6 pupils have been a credit to the school on camp this week. They have behaved impeccably, challenged themselves to try new things and been incredibly supportive towards each other. All the staff and I are very proud of them. I would also like to thank all the KPPS staff that attended camp for going the extra mile for the children this week. I hope all involved have a well deserved rest this weekend before more fun learning next week!
Have a great weekend, Mr Dewey.

Friday 6th October

Hello Everyone
We are all looking forward to Year 6 camp next week. We have been going to Barton camp for a long time, it is great value and provides a fantastic experience for the children. We have a great team of teachers and teaching assistants going, and they are committed to ensuring that the children have a safe and enjoyable time. I would like to thank them in advance for going the extra mile!
Have a great weekend, Mr Dewey.

Friday 29th September

Hello Everyone
It was great to see so many children dressed up as characters from books today. If you get a chance pop into our books shop after school in the front playground. it’s a great opportunity to buy books at a reasonable price, and keep the love of reading alive at Knowle Park. Also don’t forget that you can join your child in class next Friday at 2.30pm to join an art lesson and have a go yourself!
Have a great weekend, Mr Dewey.

Friday 22nd September

Hello Everyone, I hope lots of you can pop along to our stay and play session after school today. It’s a great opportunity to see the junior playground, and generally relax and chat while the children have fun playing.
Earlier this week we took 25 children from Years 3-6 to a cross country event at Ashton park Secondary School. The children really enjoyed being the best they could be, and 8 have been selected to represent Bristol South in further events. Our Y5 girls also took part in a tag rugby tournament earlier this week, and our Y6 girls & boys rugby team are taking part in a weekly tournament at the Imperial ground.
Finally, it has been lovely having our new reception children in school full time today. They have settled remarkably well, and we are all excited about the 7 year learning journey that they are beginning.
Have a great weekend, Mr Dewey.

Friday 15th September

Hello Everyone, It has been a great start to another exciting school year at Knowle Park. The children have settled in really well to their new classes and with their new teachers. We are confident that we will be able to deliver another high quality year of learning in the widest possible sense. Don’t forget to keep an eye on Twitter, and the Y5 & 6 blogs to get a flavour of the exciting curriculum that we deliver.
I would like to thank everyone for being super flexible during the start and end of day after the tree blew over into the front playground this week. It has certainly been a talking point among children and parents! The last branches are due to be removed on Monday. The fence will not be replaced for about three weeks. However, we have been assured that it is completely safe as it is.
Have a great weekend, hoping to see lots of you at the fun day tomorrow,
Mr Dewey.

Friday 21st July

Hello Everyone,
I would like to send a big thank you on behalf of all KPPS staff for your continued support this year. Yet again, we have really enjoyed supporting the children to be the best they can be in the widest sense. Our Year 6 pupils have had a great 7 year journey, and are now definitely ready for Secondary school. Here is a photo of them reading their leavers books today.
Have a great Summer! Mr Dewey.
